I think a block guard is an awsome option if you dont have the money for sleeves. The only time you hear horror stories about block guards is when people install them wrong, or like a couple years ago when some of them had cooling problems. Just make sure you dont distort the sleeves when you do the install, and I havent heard anyone talk about cooling problems recently so I dont think you need to worry about that.
BTW where are all of the anti-block guard people? They usually chime in by now

I've been running the str block guard for quite some time w/ no probs. What I found out after the fact though is if you are going to bore the bottom have them do it with the blockguard in place, makes sense.

The block guard would still fit the same, but the sleeves might distort a little easier since the sleeve is thinner....

Make sure you put the blockguard in before any machine work. I had sleeves distort putting a block guard in after the sleeves were bored to 81.5.
