Default when is an engine unrebuildable?

lets say you over boosted your b18b and blown your motor, how bad is it until your motor is totally destroyed (unrebuildable)?

what are the typical problems (ie bad maintanence, high boost, or any other contribution in damaging a turbo motor) that happen to turbo motors (refering to honda motors)?
thanks any reply is greatly appreciated

sleeves can be replaced, but if you put a crack or hole in the block it is done. Sometimes the block is rebuildable, just not cost effective to do it.
