When can't you re-build a block?
I want to build my engine this winter for high boost. I was originally going to pull my block (B16A) and send it out for sleeving. But now a new opportunity came up, my friend just blew up his GSR swap running N/A. His car was running like crap, the valves were making a lot of noise, he continued to drive it and it blew about a week later.
This is what he told me he found, pile of metal that looks to be intake valves in the plenium and throttle body. Exhaust valve shot down through a piston, and two cracks in the sleeves. If I could get this engine for under $100 would it be worth it? In these situations does the crank usually survive?

The head sounds shot. The shortblock will still be good for sleeving if there arent any holes through the sides of the block. The crank should be fine, just check the crank journals for scarring. Run your finger nail over the journal, if you can feel scrathes you'll most likely need a new crank.
Sorry I forgot to mention I'd be using my B16 Head and ARP head studs (they wont
) if they can transfer over, would it be worth getting his cams, sounds like the valves were flying everywhere though.

Buy the block and just get it sleeved and if the crank is messed up IM me I have another GSR crank just sitting I will sell to you............................
