Default What is your exhaust setup?

I am running 2.5inch straight piped to a megan racing exhaust, and it is just to damn loud. I had a WS2 on my N/A car. I loved it, I can only find a 2.3inch or a 3inch inlet what are you guys running with a 2.5in inlet?

Im running a 3 inch set up on my car but easily adaptable to 2.5.

bought a 3 inch eBay exhaust, cut up the lame reducer to go to a stock cat, and made my own cat section that went from 2.5 on my DP to a 3 inch flange. then I cut off the melon blaster, and welded on a 3 inch Summit racing turbo style muffler. nice an quiet setup. The eBay kit was resonated, and coupled with the muffler, gives a nice deep tone with out the rasp and pooping noise of a typical Honda lol. this winter i am going to redo it again, and add a second resonator, and instead of the summit muffler, i am going to use a thrush hush super turbo muffler.

Same boat as this guy, except 3" Dp, and a vibrant muffler and extra resonator welded in. Perfect volume for the street and it has a cutout in the DP for the track.

I thought about the vibrant, better for flow being that it is a straight through, instead of the turbo style, but i have heard vibrants and similar apexi's and don't like the rasp, i think the turbo style would be the way to go for the street especially if you are running a cutout for the track. but then again i suppose it depends on where you live. recently cops have been getting really strict on exhaust laws in MA, which is no modified exhaust at all....

Ah you live in MA too, I'm close to you I live on the cape. Ya the cops are the main reason I want to change my exhaust. I hate being pulled over for that crap, at least this isn't calli and I don't have to worry about my car being towed.

Are these the mufflers you are talking about? http://www.vibrantperformance.com/pressrelease20.php
I was checking some vids of them they do sound very raspy.

yup thats it, my friend has/had one on his B16 civic, very raspy, i hate the sound. i know having the turbo would deff kill some of the pulseyness but ive seen vids of that too and its still raspy.

this is the muffler i currently have:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-630130/

sounds great, i love it, but it didnt last long, only about a year i think. the bottom rotted out, but what do you expect for a super cheap house brand muffler.

so i am redoing my exhuast with this muffler:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WLK-17635/

same style, but name brand, and has sound deadener in the muffler insted of hollow like the last one, so it should be even mellower.

here are a few vids taken of my with a shitty camera that make it sound raspyer then it is, but good to show you anyways.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HGndbgdL4w (the last scene under the hood sounds the best as far actual sound)

i gave my camera to my friend in the 300zx, and he took some video. my car is the dark green civic, my friend with the apexi or vibrant muffler is the light green. u can hear him at 55 secs in. you can hear me at 1:25, and see me pull away and not hear me at 1:35. at 3:52 it sounds pretty good too.

hope that helps.

My car isnt raspy at all because I have 2 resonators. They control the tone, and the muffler controls the volume.

not true, resonators control not only the volume, but they also deaden pulses, ie smooth out raspyness.

mufflers do the same thing, but to a greater degree, having muffler like i have will reduce the volume, or getting a melon cannon will increase the volume. also having a non-stright through muffler will help reduce the pulses, as opposed to the melon cannon or other straight through mufflers that do little nothing to affect the majority of the pulses.
