Running rich and running lean both increase your egt. the biggest factor in egt's is timing if your fuel flow is correct. Advance it to cool egt's off, retarding will heat them up.

Avg is supposed to be like 800 at idle, 1000 at 40mph cruising in 5th, 1250 at 70mph in 5th, and 1350 wot in 5th.

Different tranny's make for different rpms which make for different readings.

Probe is 2" away from head on runner #3 (might be the reason for the high numbers)

Idle is around 820

Crusing in 4th is around 1250-1300

Full throttle is about 1450

Full throttle everygear, letting off in the top of forth, it goes up to close to 1600 (only done once or twice)

Car has been running fine for a little over 4 months

ditto, same condition, same readings.

hmm, at 45 mph cruising in fifth gear i read 1190 degrees, so you guys are getting the same reading as that? I heard elswhere i should only be at 1,050 or so. So I am actually in the norm? I also hear anything over 1400 degrees is gonna melt stuff. You sure you guys are hitting 1600 degrees full throttle and that not being a problem?
