What turbo to replace ebay with?
I'm going with a slightly larger budget build but nothing crazy. I'm going to go with a full Ebay kit but I will replace the turbocharger.
The engine will be a Vitara/eagle D16y7. I'm not looking to make 350+whp like most people. Just a little more umph. What is a decent turbo to go with that wont cost me more than a grand?
Thanks for the help.

I think he's probably talking using the tubing and such from the kit, but buying like a Garrett or Turbonetics or something else good quality.
I don't know a lot about turbos, but I know you can find Garrets for a reasonable price used, and rebuild kits are like $100.

I mean regardless. I'll be beating the **** out of the car. So I want somewhat reliability out of the turbocharger itself seeing that it will be expensive to just go through them.

Nice. I like that I can choose my A/R on that turbocharger and what it can support. Looks good. Thanks for the insight, fellas.

Re: What turbo to replace ebay with?
Advice: don't get the eBay kit in the first place.
If you want the china stuff, get an eBay charge pipe kit, cast manifold, and IC. Go with a real non-china wastegate and (like you already intend) turbo. I'm not a big fan of rebuilding someone else's supposedly rebuildable core, or buying someone else's supposedly good turbo. Most people don't know a bad turbo when it fills their IC full of oil, because they are idiots.

I understand where you are coming from. I'm just looking to build this as a fun daily while I have something else in the garage.
I do know, not from personal experience, that the eBay manifolds are thin walled, but I'm trying to do what I can with what I got. There are log style manifolds for cheap though. The only down fall is the looks of it, haha.
Thank you for your advice, sir.

That's a good size. A disco potato is more expensive than that Spoolin Performance T3/T04e. More so a toss up.

Do yourself a favor and dont buy the ebay kit. If you dont want the parts that come in it, you're going to have a hard time when you try and re-sell the ebay turbo and wastegate and all the useless clamps and valves that come with it. I use the knockoff bov, fmic, turbo, and charge piping, but the rest is trash.

Looks like I'll just get myself an intercooler kit then huh? I don't want to skimp out on the important things ( turbo, wastegate, fuel). I really appreciate the insight guys. Keep the opinions/facts coming.

2) Thin walled = crackalicious tubular junk. I did not say tubular junk failure manifolds, I said cast manifold which are neither thin nor prone to cracking (the B/D series variants currently out, anyway, china will mess them up just like they did the OBX LSD in the fullness of time). They are also cheaper than a log manifold.
