Default Budget low comp b16 pistons

My friend bought a b16 from hmotors, turbo'd it with a t3 turbo, and lost all compression. Tore the motor apart, found out it had CTR pistons and he cracked all of his ringlands. He wants to rebuild the motor with low compression pistons, but doesnt have the money for aftermarket. I've been researching and on zealautowerks compression calculator GSR pistons in a b16 would be 9.0:1 compression. So i got on ebay looking for gsr pistons and rings, and the seller claims the pistons will yeild an 8.5:1 compression ratio. What is the right ratio and/or do you have a better idea?

* It is not necessary to do so, however for slightly better results, enter the difference between the bore diameter of the headgasket in use and the actual cylinder bore to increase accuracy of the calculations. (ie. Actual cylinder bore may be 81.50mm whereas the headgasket bore is 82.00mm, therefore there is a difference of 0.50mm - enter this value into the edit box) Otherwise leave it at the default value 0.00

I'm getting 9.0:1 to 9.1:1 for USDM GSR pistons. You'll be in the 9.6-9.7:1 area if they are JDM GSRs, make sure you get USDM as that lower CR is a good thing for reliability. Also, set your piston to wall and ring end gap a bit looser, and get your car tuned.

just use LS pistons and be done, thats what i did, make sure you open up the intake valve reliefs to make room for the larger vtec valves though, i made 333whp 91octane GT3076r.
