what turbo for my b18b?
i have a b18b that the head is still stock and the block has been fully built except for on stock sleeves. Currently running neptune and will continue. I'm in the market for a new turbo (as my drag gen III turbo just ain't making me happy anymore). I'm looking for around 350whp on pump at 15psi or less. But my main concern is this thing has to spool quick. I'm still running stock head parts and i'm not looking to go past the normal LS redline, so i'm looking for a turbo that comes alive real quick, but has the potential for more than my hp goal. What do you guys suggest?

your drag gen3 turbo is a 57 trim t3/t04e with a stage 3 ehxuast wheel. it will more than meet your goals if tuned properly, etc

Re: what turbo for my b18b? (wantboost)
that's what i thought, too.......but i only dynoed 248whp.........but it was combined with the crappy drag cast manifold, 2.5" dp, and "hi-flow" cat (not test pipe).......3" mandrel exhaust from dp back & magnaflow 4" muffler, though.......

That head and cam are holding you back man. A turbo big enough to make 350whp at 15psi or less will start making power right about when your top end starts to crap out. Look into something like a gt30r if you want quick spool. I would look into building the crap out of your head or just save some money and slap a vtec head on there.

That's why you only dynoed 248whp cuz you have too much backpressure. Shitty manifold, 2.5" dp, and a cat. Fix that stuff first then see what happens. Not to mention opening up that b18b REALLY makes a difference trust me. My last setup was a fully built ls-t and it made 373whp on 18psi on pump gas on a 90 degree day with only 11.8 degrees of advance at 16-18psi with a 60 trim t3/t04e. Trust me, open that thing up in the head and on the exhaust and you will reap the power!!! Nothing on the road by me could touch my car with 373whp except for a modded 03 cobra and croch rockets.

Re: (Teglove2)
i guess if i want a more usable powerband i'm gonna have to do some headwork. Seams to me cheaper to just slap a vtec head on then to do extensive work to the LS head..........

the drag turbo i have is actually the t3/t04b........
so you guys still think i can break 300whp by changing out the turbo manifold, dp and cat?
by the way, i have a turboxs mbc and it doesn't go past 15psi, so that's why i was asking about "staying under 15psi"...........

Re: (buttsneeze)
anybody else think my t3/to4b will get me there? i'm going to go ahead and replace the turboxs mbc with the higher performance one......but i just think that i'm not gonna gain much more over 15psi.
Anybody else have much experience with this turbo over 15psi?

The turbo I have is a drag/turbonetics t3/t4b w/ super V compressor wheel, stage 3 turbine in a .63 ar housing......
I was also thinking about a small shot of nitrous, what does anybody think of that?

I think you can make it just fine with the current manifold, turbo and dp. The problem is strictly the CFM flow of the LS head that holding you against the wall. The least expensive move would be to go with a VTEC head, keep the stock cams and try again... I've had plenty of drag kits do 350whp without even chaning these parts. I'd change the parts themselves last and concentrate on the head..

we're talking well over 50 whp in gains just by changing the manifold, dp and cat?!!?
I think i'm gonna need a few more psi of boost, too! I already have the new boost controller ready......
