Default What turbo is this?

I bought this turbo off ebay, the person said it was a 14b however I ordered a 14b adapter plate and it does not match up. I called the adapter plate guy and he says that it is not a 14b turbo, but a TD04-13G instead. Which is it?

That sir is a DSM t25 turbo or better known as 16g first gen turbo(cause of the compressor housing).

You need the flanges from DSM people, like http://roadraceengineering.com

Well, actually, the adapter plate I ordered was for a 16g, but he said it would work for a 14b, so if it is a 16g, then why doesnt it work?

Gah, everyone tells me its something else. The adapter plate itself is too wide, if I align two bolts on one side to the turbo the other two holes on the adapter plate stick too far out and are completely off the turbo flange itself. Know what I mean? Ill take pics.

BUHAHAHAH! Please, don't spread this kind of misinformation...the guy is confused enough as it is.

First of all, the DSM T25 came off the newer 95-99 DSMs. It's smaller than the 1st Gen DSM 14b's.

If the adapter plate that you order is indeed for a Mitsubishi 14b/16g, then you probably got a smaller Mitsubishi based turbo....like the TD04-13G off the AUTOMATIC 1st Gen DSMs, or even a freakishly small TD04-9G off the Mitsubishi VR4.

I'd leave a negative feedback to the seller for false advertisement...

</TD></TR></TABLE>

The guy that sold me the adapter plate said thats what it looked like.

The turbo I recieved has TD05H written on it, if thats any help at all.

This turbo was for a d series project, and I had originally purchased the Probe/MX-6 turbo, but wanted something larger. If this turbo is larger than the Probe one, than I might just keep it, but I want my car to make full power at redline. And I also ordered an oil line kit for this, they said it would work will all variations of the 14b, I would just have to get adapters for it, is this turbo a variation of the 14b?

And this is the title of the auction- "Mitsubishi Eclipse TD04 14B Turbo Custom Honda Acura" based upon the TD05H enscribed on the turbo Im guessing this is false advertising.

Just read this, if USDM 4g VTEC is correct, Ill probably just keep it. FYI- I want about 8lbs and for it to pull all the way to redline, not peak out at 5k like a smaller turbo.

The 14B is a pretty good, low budget turbo. I believe it flows enough to make 200-250whp. The T25 is smaller, so it might drop off on the top end with your SOHC.

If it is indeed a TD05, then that's most likely a 14b. Hmmm, you might want to check the guy selling you the adapter plate?...maybe he sent you the wrong plate? Maybe he sent you a T3 flange (they're much bigger) instead of the 14b flanges? Who did you order it from?

But just in case, could you post up more pics of the turbo for reference? Maybe a shot of the compressor side, the compressor fins, exhaust side and housing. And even a pic of that adapter? That could be the problem all along!

I will, but Im not so much concerned with the adapter as I am with the turbo. The guy that sold me the adapter already agreed to make me a new one, however if the turbo is wrong I need to start working it out with the guy on ebay. Is it a 14b?

you know its bad when people cant keep up with the mis-info. t25 and 14b have same bolt pattern but the flange is differant, 14b/16g is round, t25 is rectangular.

btw it is a 14b..... for anyone reading this trying to figure out there turbo, the pix that will help best are first of all a pic of the turbo next to something that is an easy size reference, then another showing compressor impeller and and compressor markings.

The 14b can make over 300 crank horsepower, for a maximum of around 300 whp. It's bigger than you think.

Not true. All 16g's, some 18g's, and some 20g's will also be in that housing.
