what TURBO is this?
I've just join the darkside and really new to this. I recently bought this turbo off ebay, but the guy didnt know what type it was. From what i have seen and read, my guess us a T3. But i would like opinions from the experts who have hands on knowledge and experience of what this turbo maybe.
What kind of power/boost can i expect from this, not that i am looking for major power from it.
Here is what i know of it from what the guy mentioned in his add:
this is an airesearch turbo that is NEW!( I've had it in my garage for a while and I took it to a local turbo shop... he said it was new, as in never been used or bolted on) He mentioned it could be possibly for an svo mustang or turbo coupe thunderbird in its current set up. It can be used on just about any four cylinder engine (custom though). it has an o2 housing and internal wastegate. the specs are as follows:the compressor says "AiResearch m11" then near the exit its stamped 876. inside the out direction on the compressor it is stamped .42 on the exhaust side is says A/R36 m26
Thank for anyone who replies!!

That's a Garrett T3. The .36 a/r turbine is very small. It will spool up very fast, but it will die out on top. I've only come across one T3 with a turbine that was that small and it came off of a diesel Audi.
It probably has a 50 trim compressor wheel which is pretty decent.
Assuming the above is correct, that turbo will hit pretty hard, but it will die off fast. My guess is that it will run out of steam at around 6000 rpm.
You need to take that thing apart and take some measurements! Until you do, all we can do is guess.

Actually its not a t bird turbo.. Looks at the exhaust elbow.. they have a two bolt flange on the end.. its also not a saab turbo they have a hose out on the compressor and the exhaust elbow is attached with three bolts. my guess is its off of a 300zx but I am not sure of the specs.. the compressor looks like a 60 trim but I can't say for sure.

If its off a 300zx then that turbo is a T25/T2 or it could have come out from a Merkur XR4Ti

damn... well i'd say it's prob off an audi or an old z. looks like a smaller version of my ghetto turbo. mine's .60 a/r 60 trim compressor, but .48 turbine
It's a T-Bird Turbocoupe or SVO Mustang turbo by the looks of the manifold. It's comparable to a 60 trim t3, I beleive.
