Default What thickness headgasket?

first time machining and decking block, head still looks to have some beef on it but the block looks like it allows the pistons to stick up just extremely, extremely slightly. I was thinking of either going with a cometic .040 or .052.

Should I just buy the damn .052 and throw the engine together, or should I clay the pistons with my OEM .029 and then probably just end up getting a .040.

Normally, I'd go with the .052 without question, but... if my calculations are correct, I'd probably be running 8.3:1 compression, vs 8.5:1 compression with the .040. I wanted to get as close to 8.5:1 as possible, but do you think the .2 difference will really effect me to any extent at this point period? Also, somebody before was saying something about how to measure what was taken off the block by a feeler gauge. I tried to do more research on this but came up with no answers. The block + Head are both P72 B18C1

Thanks!
