What rings should I go with for my JE pistons?
I know this is not directly a FI question, but I know many of you are using these pistons with your FI motors (as I will am currently building one as well).
Anywayz, I received my 84mm CRV JE pistons. I went the cheap way, and didn't get JE pistons rings with them. I thought I could use stock OEM honda piston rings (as I have some hookups with honda guyz). Anywayz, when I tried to install them, the top piston ring doesn't fit!! The groove on on the JE piston is slightly smaller. But the other rings fit fine. Does anyone else have this same problem?? Does that mean that I have to go with aftermarket rings (JE I suppose)??
Here's a pic of what I'm talking about. It's #1 in the pic:

Use the rings that come with the pistons, that you didn't buy. The honda ones are a different size, obviously. The rings that je uses are pretty good and will hold all the power you can throw at them.

Re: What rings should I go with for my JE pistons? (REVTurbo)
I've read that JE sends out LOW tension rings with their pistons. Low tension meaning motor cycle style rings that allow for some blowby and smoking in a N/A engine. With FI this just causes all kinds of problems because of higher cylinder pressures, which is the issues I'm having now with my pistons and JE stocked rings.
They've JUST NOW released the normal tension rings for their piston, which I'll be upgrading to once I pull the head to have a valve job/seals done.
Anyone else ever hear about this problem?

Im actually having the same blowby problem with my h22. It has wiseco pistons and the rings that came with the pistons. What's up with the weak rings being supplied with aftermarket forged pistons? What rings are everyone running?
