Default What is the preferred BOV for 400HP on a B18C1?

What does everybody run for blow off valves, on an 400whp daily driver setup? I want something that will eliminate compressor surge.

B18C1 12-18 psi of boost

question, i know you've been in the turbo world a long time...but....

according to the tial chart 21-22in of vacuum would use an 11lb spring

last two b18c's i've tested were 21 and 22.5"

too much spring and it just doesn't open.

wonder if the shodan will stop by on readings regarding measured vacuum at idle and spring pressure

For the TiALs, going by vacuum pressure at idle is best. I've seen a lot of that synapse vs. TiAL attack where the Synapse guys use the wrong spring based upon vacuum, then claim it was the design of the valve that was the problem. (what an immature tactic).

Anywho, here's the spring chart list. Most Hondas use 11psi based upon vacuum, but I have seen it set a bit lower in case there were changes. The GReddy R is quite adjustable for use (not sound), and is MUCH larger than the RS, (47mm) so there's no need to worry about the vacuum reading so much.

Yeah I miss my greddy R. I had to cut a coil off of one of the springs inside of my RS to get the surge to go away. I will be trying the inlinePRO bov soon and hope it does better.

^ Regarding the supra greddy type-r video:

When the bov flutters like that, I thought that was an indication of the bov not working properly and compressor surge? Is that the case or is it normal for that bov to sound like that?

I don't think its actually compressor surge, I think its just a loose adjusting bolt on the top of the BOV

I bought my tial with a 11lb spring for my boosted b18c1 and not sure if its gonna be too heavy of a spring or not.

I just took my Type-S off of the car and went to a Type-R for the new setup. I loved the Type-S, and the thing is still in great shape, but for the higher boost pressure on the larger turbo, I found a barely used Type-R for a hell of a deal, and it better suited me.
