I wanted to know what i should be looking for when buying a used turbo system? Also are turbo kits interchangable between d,b,and k series engines? Wouldn't you just have to change the fmu and the exhaust header?

you would have to change manifolds if going on another series, um im sure someone will help you with what to look for in a used turbo. there is a faq at homemadeturbo.com. you want something with little to no shaft play, i know that.

I want to buy a used one from someone off ht but i want to go and inspect the turbo first. But i'm not sure what to look for.

the main thing you should look for is shaftplay. Make sure the compressor and the exhaust turbines spin freely and equally. Also make sure that there is very very minimal or no side to side or in and out movement on the turbines. Thats pretty much what you should look out for on a turbo. As for a manifold...make sure there are no cracks....be sure the wastegate is in good working order, not sure on how to check on a wastegate other than just having your kit installed and testing it out....make sure there are no cracks or leaks in the intercooler...etc... Just be smart..if you see something that doesn't look right..it probably isn't....
