What the hell!!!
Right this is doing my head in: heres my set up
D16Z6
T3 turbo
2.5 inch full system
450cc DSM injectors with resistor box
MR2 200lph in tank
BOV
Starion FMIC
running the AFC hack with settings at -35% across the board apart from at 1000rpm where its at -30%
BKR7E plugs
timing retarded 4 degrees from stock
My problem is im getting detonation at anythything over 7 psi, im in the uk and running on 98 octane fuel, why the hell im i getting detonation?? u guys in the us run 10psi and **** on crappy 92 octane etc, what the hell can be wrong??? I have no boost leaks as this has been checked, arghhh its driving me mad i want 9psi daily but at WOT im just getting pinking, not real bad but surely it shouldnt be happening, specially as its cooler over here and cos of the 98 octane gas.
standard compression ratio on a UK spec D16Z6 is 9.2:1 is this the same as over there?? would going a another step colder on the plugs help as our standard plugs in the UK are 6's??
Please help im on the verge of going back NA!!

How many miles are on the engine? You could have carbon build up on your pistons. Have you tried richening it up with the afc? Did that stop the pinging? nO? Did you try retarding the timing a degree or two more? did that help? no? Maybe buy one of those msd btmz or something?

Re: What the hell!!! (Vanilla Ic3)
85,000 miles
yeah i took the timing back even more and it reduced it a bit but now the timing is well retarded, there should be no need the octane of our fuel 98 is far higher than the stuff u guys use.
What would be the effects of my fuel pump producing the incorrect pressure?? I have a feeling it could be the pump too high oor too low pressure

Re: What the hell!!! (deacs)
so all you have done with your AFC is -35% across the board on the fuel section? Doesnt the AFC hack involve changing the tps correction in relationship to boost?
