I know it has that "psssshhhht" sound after you let off the throttle, but can anyone provide a link to a wav file or something?

I have heard a Talon with a BOV that was VERY loud and high pitched. Then I have heard one on a WRX that wasn't high pitched. It sounded simply like a release of gases. I'm getting the HKS Super Sequential BOV, what does that sound like?

Wow, dustin, thanks a lot. I'm hoping my Drag Gen 3 in my LS will sound just as good. And get this....I thought the turbo spool of a stock Golf 1.8T was good!

What psi are you boosting? And stupid question.....but the higher the psi, the more you hear the turbo spool, correct? Will I hear anything at about 7psi? Or will there be nothing except the BOV?

I am running about 7psi right now. Yours should sound similar. The BOV is louder with higher boost levels, you can typically only hear the turbo spooling before you get all the way on the throttle... else engine noise drowns out the actual turbo spooling noise. You can hear the turbo spool somewhat in the mp3.

To record that, I just stuck a laptop in the passenger seat and drove around with some sound recording software running

thankx dustin, I was wondering what an HKS SS would sound like also. Is the sound of the BOV more apparent from the outside of a car...say if your lined up with someone and you want to scare the sh*t out of them? Once on this forum a guy said that a rider fell off his bike because of the sound of his BOV, is it really that loud or do you need to push like 12-14psi?

 

my blow off sounds sorta like a loud rusty swing set.... its the vortech one.... for some reason revhard switched to this one from the greddy in their kits.... they said it works better, but i dont know about that..... its louder tho

listen to a mack or some sort of 18 wheeler on the parkways or highways then imagine it from a higher rpm to that and a longer sounds of that...if that makes any sence to you.

I have two blinkers out I cannot find bulbs that look good so I just leave them out.

I suppose if I had my wastegate's dump pipe connected to my exhaust piping instead of dropping to the ground under my engine, it wouldn't be so loud still its fun to hear your own car screaming, almost makes you horny.. hehe

 

Slightly OT: Dustin where did you get your 3" Thermal? I'm considering one for my Civic so I'm looking to price it.

Dustin, what did you have prior to the thermal? Please give feedback on how you like this 3" exhaust compared to your old one. Much of a power increase? How much louder is it, really?
