Default What does CFM stand for?

When discussing turbochargers, does CFM stand for "Cubic Feet per Minute?"

So the more CFM a turbo can push, the more power in can create efficiently?

No, what's important is that it matches the CFM that your engine is consuming at the boost pressure you want. For example, 900 CFM won't do you jack squat on a 1.8 liter engine unless you're turning 30,000 RPM.

MATH!

Engine displacement (L) * RPM / 2 * 0.03531 = CFM

example:

1.8L * 8000RPM / 2 * 0.03531 = 254 CFM

With a flow bench, you can measure how much air is moved at a given valve lift. With it you can determine how much power you will make at what rpm with what lift you want.
