I want to use my B17A block (bored and sleeved to 84.5 mm), B20 crank, custom made rods to fit crank and short deck height, 84.5 JE pistons. This will produce a high revving fast piston speed engine but was told that fast piston speed is bad for FI. What do you all think would be the problem with this setup? Why would fast piston speed be bad? I am using my built B17A head as well with 10 p.s.i daily driver and maybe 15-20 p.s.i. at the track.
TIA

fast piston speeds wear the internals
why not get a new b20 block +some kinda girdle and new pistons and rods
and use a vtec head...
b20 crank creates a bad r/s ratio

To be honest, I think you should just use what you have. Like my sig says, KISS. By keeping it simple I think my set up has done me very well and Im a big believer in keeping it simple. Just use the B17 and go from there. Work with what you have..

Art, I already have everything except the rods. I want the larger displacement and my B20 is toast. Maybe I could shave the top of the B20 off and weld it to top of the B17 and use standard rods. Now there's an idea.....
