bmc racing does some quality cnc machining. I got one of their first t3-&gt;hf adapters awhile back. Its as good as an adapter can get imo.
the one you posted is their "fancy" adapter. the outer four holes mount to the hf manifold and the four inner mount to the turbine housing. no extra holes. heres an old pic of mine mounted on the mani:

and the round part you asked about is port matched to the manifold:

kinda hard to see b/c of the crappy pics. HTH

Ive heard of a few aluminum adapter plates melting, heres a pic of one

And a quote reguarding aluminum plates

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">This is why we dont use aluminum adapter plates, just incase you ever ran into a lean condition, the egt's would get pretty hot and easily melt the aluminum</TD></TR></TABLE>

Heres a link to a homemadeturbo.com thread where you can see what is IMO the best adapter plates on the market

http://www.homemadeturbo.com/f...art=0

This is for the HF/CX/VX/Std Manifold and T25/14B Turbo

And this one is for the HF/CX/VX/Std Manifold and T3 Turbo

Im going to be using one of their adapters in a few months when I boost my GF's D16Y8/96 Coupe.
