What do i need to run 14 psi????
Im wondering what i need for fuel set up to fun 14 psi. I have an ls motor with 8.5:1 srp pistons. the rest of the motor is stock. Right now for fuel i just have the fmu, missing link, inline fuel pump. I heard i can do it if i get a safc, and some 440cc injectors and have it tuned. If i do this do i need do this do i need the fmu? Also how much do i need to retard the timing for 14 psi? I was thinking about getting the msd btm to retard the timing. I dont want to go hondata if i dont have to so can i do it without it?
the first thing you will need is a new block. You will most likly crack a sleeve. If not at first down then down the road it is likely to happen. I had my motor tuned at 14 psi. I had JE 9:1 pistons, crower rods, balanced, newformz block guard, 78lb injectors, aem ems and so on. It lasted about 5 or 6 months. I drove mainly at 7 psi. Everyonce and a while would hit high boost of 14 and then one night BOOM i cracked a sleeve. I would not boost more then 12 on a stock block.
i've heard of a loooot of people boosting at 15 or so psi on bone stock LS motors...
not to go against what u said, underpressure, because its great advice...but just wondering how long these guys' motors are lasting...
i was planning on getting tuned from 12.5-14 psi...
i mean do the sleeves really take a beating if theres no detonation? i know its 14 psi and all but I always thought that as long as its tuned right and theres no knock, it shouldn't be a problem

i totally agree with you. I know alot of people running more then 14 on a stock ls. It is all in the tuning. **** I never thought my motor would blow but when it did and I posted everyone was like dumbass never run more then 12 and I was like now everyone tells me. My theory is it is better to be safe then sorry.

first thing you need to do is throw away the FMU and missing link... your block should be strong enough for 14psi if you are tuned correctly.

yes the place (will not say the name) that tuned my car set my timing map way to agressive. Since this little mishap i have had my timing reduced significantly to hopefully prevent this in the future.
LS blocks can handle around 350whp on stock internals before they'll go.
GSR blocks can handle around 450whp on stock internals before they'll go.
Its in the tuning.
