Default what is the difference......

ok what is the difference between a odb1 d15 and d16? i've been looking at greddy kits but they all say "for d16" why would it not fit on a d15? as long as the exhuast manifold is the same it shouldn't make a differnece right? does it have to do with the ecu? thanks guys!!

well, you have to think of all the places the kit actually connects to the motor. So you're looking at manifold, and charge pipe, right? There are other things to consider, but those are the main 2.

The kits for the d16 will fit the d15, they are the same engines externally. The throtle body sits in the same position so the charge piping will line up, and the exhaust flanges are identical.

There is less of a performance market for the non vtec d-series engines. Greddy is pushing the product towards the higher performance engine of the d-series.

yeah but the almighty D15B7 pumps out 102HP!

turbocharge it and you'll get at least 300HP, yO!

the D15 is definantly a "high performance" engine. i mean look at what Bisi runs with his nearly stock N/A D15.

Because its only CARB legal on the d16 92-95 civic SI/EX. They dont want you buying it for your DX and then getting in trouble with the man (the law).

But it fits the 88-00 civic just fine...with some mods on the 96+ styles. Hell some people have gotten them to work on LS motors.
