What could Cause this? Pictures Inside... Sorry 56k
I thought that these oil pans were suppose to hold up. Here's what a rock in the middle of an on-ramp will do to a boosted Civic SI. Damn Rocks!!! Guess the rock won this battle. Believe it or not, this pan will be fixed.

I always get jealous when my VW friend bottoms out on his skid plate... I wish honda engines had the headers on the firewall side, so we could have skid plates...

Jesus man! That's crazy. It does look like a curb though. That rock had to be huge!

Nope, it was a rock - yes it was huge! A tractor-trailer was ahead and of course he had no problem clearing this rock, the next person behind who was following a bit close, well, ....u know the rest. It's Pennsylvania ... home of potholes! Do you guys on the west coast know what those are? LoL

ouch! good luck fixing that.
last summer while zipping through the n.ga mtns i rounded this curve and saw what looked to be bloated road kill...couldn't avoid it safely so i drove over it (dead 'possum can't do much damage, right?). turned out to be a boulder. felt like the wheels came off the road when i hit it. immediately pulled to the side of the road expecting total carnage at the oilpan or tranny and gas tank. i was one lucky sob. the thing ran down the entire length of my dc sports header, cat, mid pipe and resonator. 3 inches either way and i was walking (no cell phone reception there).

Pot holes are nothing. In my area it's all bricks with the ground going up and down. It's annoying as hell. Not to mention all the kids walk in the street and never get out of the way.

I think you can find a shop that welds aluminum and get it fixed. Try some thicker aluminum for the repairs. Aluminum pans are not going to be as strong as factory steel.

word! i know what you mean, i live in PA and the roads suck. potholes everywhere and when they "fix" the pothole it just gets worse and sinks again.
i'm afraid to drive my parents stock Neon on alot of roads, let alone my lowered Honda or my GF's lowered Teg. too bad they can't get good workers and take the time to fix the roads. we do pay taxes to keep them in good shape.

it looks like an easy fix. I'd assume you'de just cut that entire rectangular area out and weld in a new one.
Kind of like patching drywall. heh.
actually, I forgot that there is a baffle in there. good luck on the repair!
