just like the topic says... ive been out the game for a minute... recently getting back into it and building a turbo motor.... heres the setup..

-84mm gsr ge sleeved
-pistons... not decided... low comp but what compression?? 8?
-rods... any suggestions... my boy was tellin me to get scat rods and supertech pistons... can i get some feedback on that also??
-1000 cc injectors
-hondata s300
-fully built b16a head with head studs
-ls crank
-b16 tranny
-victor x intake mani
-o yehh and id like to know what u 600+ hp guys are using in the fuel area... im still trying to figure out what i want to do... i have a walbro 255 on there now.. but ive read threads saying i need to upgrade.
-and of course this will be with a turbo setup consisting of a gt35r turbo

soo yehh, any compression suggestions? ive tried searching but didnt find much. thanks for the help fellaz

I hear great thing on scat rods..my buddy has them on his dsm and he's pushing 35psi on them...you deff need dual walbro setup or inline fuel pump because single walbro wont be enough...i think someone made 600hp on one but i wouldnt trust it. I'd go 9-9.5:1 compression as far as pistons go.

dont u think that compression is a little high? i was thinking more in the 8 range? not to good with all the #s but id like to have a really low compression so i can run more boost. want to max out the 35r if possible.

Hello, and welcome to the world of hondas. Your B-series motor runs a small (3.2") bore, with a very efficient cylinder head and some large cams. This ain't no 4" bore iron headed small block Chevy. You can get a naturally aspirated B-series to run good on pump gas with as much as 12-12.5:1 compression. Looking at a conventional small block V8 we're talking about 11:1 compression being about the MAX that 94 octane will stomache, even with some good heads and a large cam. You really can't compare the compression between the two of them. We're talking about RACE GAS here as well, and 9.5:1 compression is absolutely not going to limit your power potential on race gas. You'll find some race cars trying to squeeze every ounce out of their combinations are running 10:1 and higher compression and still making filthy power (hybrid901 640 WHP on a PT67 with 10.5:1 compression, 93h22acx made 730 WHP on a 10:1 setup, among countless others). You don't need uber low compression to make lots of power on race gas, period. 9:1 compression is a fine choice for a high horsepower motor.

And on that note, if you're still this in the dark about just the compression of your motor I think you should take a step back and wait another year before you jump in, start buying parts, and expect to keep a 700 HP honda together.

tokes, thanks man, any more suggestions? just that ive seen alot of guys using really low compression with high horsepower also..

also... my friend was telling me to get supertech pistons with the black coating on it... ive read some threads about it and people werent giving it much support. and he was tellin me to go with some scat rods.... which ive gotten mixed reviews from. i guess the reason id go with these is cuz he has the hook on them... but id honestly spend the extra money to save my motor from ****** up on me.

you also dont need higher compression to make a lot of power so why not keep it on the lower side to be a little safer?

yeh man my thoughts exactly.. im kinda scared to run a high compression... but i know keeping it in the 9 range is safe but will it be ok if i want to max out the 35r? thats maddd boost

You should keep the compression in the 9s....8s is too low....Alot of ppl making big power now are like 10:1 or so....

Don't know anything about Scat....but Pauter is a badass rod.

if you stay in teh 9 ratio pistons you will make more power with less boost...... I am running 9.8:1 in my car and have no problem.... when its in lag it feels stronger than a stock motor..... pauter rods are probable one of the best robs out there.. if you want check out Full-Race with there rods. I hear they are pretty good also but havent heard awhole lot about them

10.5:1 84mm Flat top pistons from Arias. Good stuff for turbo.

Don't be scared of the compression. Flat tops are good for Forced induction.
But yes, lower compression will give you that "room for error" feeling.
But like with any setup, tuning will make the difference in how good the motor will last and run.

The compression topic has been covered a lot and decided to pretty much just opinion. You can make huge power with whatever compression you have. Also, compression doesn't affect spool time so... it's really up to whatever you want. A little more safety when tuning or a little more grunt out of boost.

I'd go 10:1 or 10.5:1. As long as you have someone competent tune it you should be fine...

...i second that motion. *NO TUNE NO LIFE*

...scat makes some good stuff, but i would go with CP pistons and PAUTER rods

Wow I guess high compression + turbo is the new bandwagon. I've been saying it's the way to go for years now and most people criticized me for running 10:1+ and turbo.

from what i remember jason hunt and brian ballard were running 9 to 1 motors and are making more then enough power and have the fastest street cars....how much more power do you think you will really make from going to 10 to 1 rather than 9 to 1?

what kind of gas are you going to run..

better gas = higher compression
