Default what causes a turbo manifold bolt to suddenly come loose?

when i installed the turbo in my car, i checked everthing especially the bolts holding the turbo manifold to the block and they are tight as a nun.

yesterday i took the heat sink off just to check the turbo and the manifold for any oil leaks. i decided to check the bolts as well and i was very surprised to see that 4 of the 5 bolts on the bottom are very loose and doesn't require any effort to turn it either way at all while all the top bolts are tight.

is this normal for a turbo car or is there something wrong with my bolts? will those 4 loose bolts create exhaust leak even if the top 3 and 1 at the bottom are still tight? is there any other negative effect from having these bolts loose?

btw, i'm using stock bolts.

Isn't it advised to replace them and use loctite on the threading??

vibration is the number one cause. Use lock washers and loctite, also it may help to take the whole turbo assmebly off and just assemble it with only the turbine housing, that way you can use a ratchet and socket to torqued them down really good.

Vibration, it happened to me before. I used lock washers on all my bolts now and the problem went away.

Hehe, you could always safety-wire them. Must use studs and nuts, no bolts----hopefully in this case the studs wont back out of the head.
