you don't need a crank, the OEM one should be fine.

the sleeves wont break with proper tuning. normally the thing that fails with hondas is the pistons.

3 main things that break are:

Rods

Pistons

Sleeves

if u do the first two, and do a good tunning, u can avoid the 3rd one from breaking

Honda stock sleeves are prooven to hold plenty power, with the right tunning.....

as long as u avoid detonation, u shall be ok

Head bolts also seem to be a weak point on very high boost applications. Many upgrade to ARP or AEBS head studs.

But I agree the majors are Pistons, Rods, Sleeves.

rods, but with proper tuning, you should be safe.

Conservative w/timing and a good A/F are the key to making those things last.

With good tuning they can support ALOT more hp than most people realize...IMO the biggest weak link is the ringlands.

Ralphy Estevez from DRT in ny runs stock sleeves in his race car which makes well over 600hp.

Hallo,

i think one thing you forgot in your calculation is the aimed horsepower level...
i think rods i.e. break because of to much stress (menas HP) ... ok when you produce detonation you get extreme high stress to the rods thats clear so you have to avoid them... but i mean if the engine is tuned properly you have no detonation and then rods break from hp stress... so the question must be how much hp did the stock rods can handle?

same for pistons and sleeves, piston rings and so on...?

what is the main problem for sleeves? why do they break? heat? pressure? power?

Greets
Malte.

heh yah, no biggie i have 4 more pistons i'm putting in it... i just think that it was spiking and/or creeping to over the PSI we tuned for... so it was "untuned" for some of the time... esp the 65 to 110mph 4th gear pulls

thank you guys, its just that im trying to boost, my LS motor, with a friend of mines, we are doing it together.
one more question.
have you guys heard, of an LS head on a b16 bottom or GSR bottom, they say its 8.1:1 comp. and all you have to do is use the LS gasket, and block off the oil pass. from the block, and your done.
what do yuo think guys?? is it true or not.
