what is the best knock sensor for the j&s safeguard..?
I currently have a gm knock sensor, but I just f'd it up a little, yesterday I started reading about knock sensors..and ended up nowhere, of course. My knock sensor Was installed in an adapter I fabbed up and threaded into a hole near the oil filter, but now that won't work thanks to my GE oil sandwich adapter putting the oil line to the turbo right through that location..so I unscrewed it and damaged the threads pretty badly in the process..
Anyway, back to something relevant, I started reading about resonant vs non resonant sensors. I suspect a non oem sensor might not be compatible with the oem knock board in the ecu, but the j&s' sensitivity is adjustable. So I'm wondering if there is an advantage to using one the newer non resonant styles, or if it even matters. Or if I even need a knock sensor at all, lol, I 'll be running on e85 anyway.
Anyone up the the newest knock sensor info?

You need to call Jhon at J&S, you cannot just use a random sensor, the unit was programed to use a certin sensor, any ol' sensor isnt gonna cut it.. Im using a bosch sensor with mine

I strongly suspect that is not the case, as the same exact unit is used on many different vehicles, probably all of which have different sensors. I'm willing to bet the selector switches do not select the tye of sensor, only the type of signal to the ignitor. I've used gm sensors with the j&s set to the honda settings before and of course it worked fine.
I guess it's time to email john about the resonant vs non resonant sensor thing..if I still care enough.
