i was looking into buying a hondata chip for my car and when asking what people thought of them i was given the response that if you have a good tuner they are great but the aem ems system was another way to go. my qu is what is an aem ems system

first of all, hondata is not a chip. They both do the same thing. You need to do some more research. Good luck.

the hondata is a unit that is easy to tune by many dyno shops. the aem ems is veryyyyy hard to tune. what type of set up are you looking at running?

IMO I believe that the AEM will be better than the hondata unit, when the company gets all the kinks out of the program. But for now the hondata is the best solution for an OBD 1 car, OBD II if you feel like getting another ECU and harness . Oh by the way EMS stands for Engine Management System. AEM is a little pricey too.
