Re: Webers and Boost (earl)
I'm not sure...did they make any blow-thru carbs?
Probably have better luck talking to the old sk00l Z car guys.

Ffft.
Draw-thru carb turbo setups suck. Most of the turbos you will lay hands on lack the compressor side seal needed to have raw fuel pass through them, and would fail quickly in that configuration. Not to mention cold start up problems, fuel drop out issues, ad nauseam.
Blow through setups can be quite nice, and what you have to do depends on the carb. Depending on the carb, you either need to make sure your throttle shafts are properly sealed or you need to build a box around the carb to maintain the boost pressure. Foam filled floats, or brass ones, should be used to prevent them from collapsing under pressure o_O.
A 1:1 FMU, or at least a boost referrenced mechanical pump (yeah, right) is needed as well. You blow the fuel out of the float bowl if you don't!
I have seen a blow thru DCOE setup on an old Rx7, and on an old Fiat X1/9, and neither needed to be enclosed... but I have heard of people on the web having to enclose them. Your best bet is to consult the blow-thru turbo list on yahoogroups.com/

Fuel management really consists of tuning your secondary jet size, and making sure the accelerator pump is properly sized to your new fuel requirements. If the secondaries are what they need to be, the momentary high pressure outside the carb/low pressure below the carb in the intake manifold really enhances the venturi effect and sucks a lot of fuel from the secondaries... and with the extra fuel from the accelerator pump going in, a momentary bog on WOT going into boost can happen.

Re: Webers and Boost (J. Davis)
thanks, i will check out the yahoogroups. I am running a blow through setup and so far so good, but soemtimes under pressure gas comes out form some odd places. I have a mallory boost dependent FMU. I was looking at the SX regulator though. It seems to be better than the mallory regulator.

Re: Webers and Boost (turbo83lude)
Ah, I missed your screen name, was kind of wondering about your ignition controls.
So what are you doing for ignition control? Do you still have the stock mechanical advance, or did you get a recurve?
Gas leaks are one of the PITAs of that setup, unless you build an enclosure for the carb. I have a pic of that Fiat X1/9 running a single DCOE blowthru without an enclosure somewhere... but that may or may not be the easiest way for you to approach that problem.
Dude! I want to see pics of your car. I love older Hondas... it's nice to hear of someone giving them love. Your car is probably very surprising to run into on the street.

And the Mallory seems to be the FMU of choice for the redneck V8 boys... I'm not a big expert on what the diff between it and the SX is, but if it isn't broke & all that.

Re: Webers and Boost (J. Davis)
Now I have to say that truely takes moxie!!
I had dual 40 DCOE's on the Datsun 510 that I owned and they can be a lot of fun to play with.
My recommendation would be to do a web search for some of the Lotus web sites (try "Lotus Cortina). The comment done prior talking about Z-car's is also a good idea. Years ago, you could buy Weber manifolds for both the 510's and 240Z's directly from Datsun Comp.

Re: Webers and Boost (J. Davis)
The difference between Mallory and any other brand is that Mallory is guaranteed to be worse.
Every heard of their Unilite distributors?
Every Monday there is a line at every speedshop full of guys waiting to buy replacements Unilite modules because theirs died at the races that weekend.
