Default Wastegate is staying open....need help.

Tial 38mm 0.5 bar wastegate.

Now upon starting the car up the wastegate opens. The suggestions i've gotten is that "we didn't put the metal seal ring in", "it can't be open or flutter because there are no load on the exhaust gases being fed through". We haven't actually driven the car yet, just started it up.

We have chose 2 different routes for the vacuum lines:
Vacuum line from the turbo to the wastegate (side port), left the top alone. Then, ran a vacuum from the bov (w/ 45 fitting) to the manifold, left the other port alone.

Then, we tried running a vacuum from the wastegate to the bov (w/o fitting port), then we ran from the 45 fitting on the bov to the manifold. This left us wondering where to run the turbo vacuum. So, we've got suggestions to run it seperately on its own vacuum right to the manifold.

Either way we tried the wastegate stayed open. What is wrong??

Its a Greddy Type R BOV aswell. Running a Precision sc34 turbo.

<---frustrated...needing a pro to help.

pat, is it the wastegate that is opened or the BOV. if its the BOV then the greddy can be adjusted by lostening up the lock nut and turning the allen screw. you want ti adjust it so that at idle it is barely closed. as far as the wastegate being opened, try to unhook all vacume lines to it, and see if it opens. if is does then there is a problem with the wastegate, can you push the piston up with it off the car???

for your vacume lines you want to run a separate line to the BOV and a seperate line to the wastegate. just tee off the brake boster or tee 1 off the FPR and 1 off another source. you can also use the nipple on your turbo to run right to the wastegate, the side port the top one is not used unless you are using a boost controller.

Thanks

Its definately the wastegate. I think we forgot to install the seal ring. Ill find that out tonight. Other then that the car is ready to go. Except we just have to run the vacuum lines. Which should be pretty easy....then it'll be ready to roll

What you have above is the proper way to run the vacum lines.. You could also plug the vacum port on the turbo and run vacum from the side port of wastegate to the intake manifold for more accurate boost.

Are you running a boost controller?
