Wastegate question
I'm new to the turbo set up and trying to piece together a junkyard one. I have a question about the wastegate. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Wastegate is used to lower boost right? NOt raising boost (learn from tial website).
So I'm planning on runninng low boost 5-7 psi on stock GSR engine. So what kind of spring should I use?
Let's say I'll use a 5psi spring in my Tial wastegate. Does it mean that it will hold the gate close until 5 psi? If I want to raise the boost, a controller will help me with that 5psi spring to raise it up let say...10psi right?
Or
I should get a 10psi spring and the controller will help me lower it to 5psi?
I'm really new with this turbo crap so pardon the stupidness

Re: Wastegate question (92SiB18C1)
your 1st option is right. Get the lower spring and use a boost controller. If you get a 10 psi spring, you will have to run 10 psi minimum

Can you school me on how the boost controller work with the wastegate?
As you know the wastegate opens when is see's the pre-determined boost (i.e opens at 5psi if it's a 5psi spring), well the boost controller fools the wastegate it only allows it to see say 3psi when the turbo is actually producing say 8psi so the wastegate won't open.Say you set the boost controller for 10psi (with 5psi spring) once it (the boost controller) sees 10psi it allows the pressure to pass by thus opening the wastegate...a manual boost controller acts as a wastegate in itself because it has an adjustable (tension) spring that you set for the desired boost....
