Default wastegate problems?

Am i supposed to have a screw on top of my wastegate? (pic below)
its hard to see but there are lines inside
my car holds boost well at 6 pounds but it tends to spike when i set it above
that. I would take it back to shop i had it built at but they are closed for
good.

thanks

You had it built? It's not a specific brand?

i'm going to get a tial eventually but i was wondering if someone on this forum had the same wastegate, so i could find it out whether its total junk thus i would have to replace it or whether i need to a screw for the top of it? thanks.

Again, what brand is it? If it's "built", then it's a possibility no one's running it. And no, you dont need a screw on top.

sorry, i have no clue what brand it is, the shop bought both the wastegate and bov and they look like ebay/noname brand type products. Is it possible that i have a bad mbc or is there any other reason that could cause the boost to spike? thanks again

you better check and make sure you didn't pay tial prices for ebay ****.

Must be a helluva good shop if they're using knock-off products on you

^^ well i pieced most of the kit myself, turbo, mani, intercooler and so on thus the majority of my stuff is name brand. However that being said my tuner did get some parts as well. They aren't in business anymore...

Unhook your mbc, and run off spring pressure until you can get a TiAL. If the mbc was bad, it would spike at ALL pressures, not just over 6 psi.

He probably has the mbc closed, so its running off wastegate spring only.

Original poster, where are you getting your vac from for the wastegate?
