Default wastegate problem with a internal to external conversion

My turbo was a internal wastegate converted to external before I got it.

Now when I get on it I hear the turbo spool up and then at 3grand POP, something inside the turbo pops and the compressor slowly stops spinning.

now here is the problem I think.....The turbo has no regulator on the backside of it but I think the "flapper" was still left in the turbo.

my setup is a bit off. The turbo mani does not have a flange for a external wastegate so the guy had a flange for the turbine exhaust housing to have 2 seperate pipes.....one for the external wastegate....and one for the downpipe.

so would I have to remove the flapper completely as apposed to most people welding it shut for a mani mounted wastegate???

Didn't you already make a post about this? Seriously.

I don't se a flapper in that picture, but you probably should find out if there is one before you go any further.
