Default waste gate question

so on a external Tial Wastegate, could you leave it open or does it have to run to a vacuum source? Sorry I'm a newb to this kind of stuff.

if you dont run it to a vacuum source, it will stay shut... bad idea.

it has to be hooked up to a vaccum line otherwise it wont open.
