yea, Jeff gained 90whp just by routing the WG dump tube under the oil pan!

Best way to tune for the proper length is to smeer oil over the pipe on the exhaust and dump tube.
Drive it hard and find whare the oil stopped burning and whack off the pipe right there.
Now your exhaust is full tuned !!!
Believe it cuz this is how you tune the exhaust.

i would think that you could just get another 90 going towards the driver side and fab up a dump tube going straight down and under.
btw nice wirte up!!!

yeah it looks as though you can flip the entire elbow to turn the wastegate to the drivers side... that would be much better
on a side note, when i boost my car(very soon hopefully) i plan on running the dumptube out the side of the front bumper like i saw on a dsm one time... thought it looked pretty cool... they also said that it spit fire out every now and then
heres a pic i found:

[QUOTE=dpetro1]wow thats pretty interesting, looks like i need to get a dumptube asap. right now i have my tial 38mm on an elbow for hood clearance. there is no way to run a dumptube on it unless maybe i flip it around. do you guys think that would be a better idea? here's a pic:
[/QUOTE}
I have that same setup, just mount the wastegate right to the manifold and use the elbow as a dump facing down. I just had to cut a little bit of hood webbing off.

hmm, maybe i will do that. how much of the hood did you have to cut? any pics of it? thats a crazy intake setup btw.
looks like i could easily flip the elbow around and run a dump straight down and under the pan. maybe that would be an easier method. thanks for the insight guys

Yeah, that intake tube was experimental, I was testing heat soak, with stainless, mild steel and aluminum...that's why you see the sections.. just for fun. My current intake tube goes right down into the right inner fender. Anyhoo, I just cut the webbing off right above the wastegate, I'll look for a pic.

hmm i notice you arent running the top fitting for an EBC, which i am, do you still think there will be enough clearance after trimming the hood?

The wastegate just barely clears, the top fitting had no chance of clearing the hood, so I plugged the top hole and drilled & tapped an 1/8"NPT port on the side of the housing

Re: (Boondock Saint)
o ok. i was wondering why you had 2 fittings on the sides. well looks like im just going to flip the elbow to the other side and run a dump from there. thanks for the help.
how much are wastegate flanges anyways?

on the dyno it would matter. but going down the reack at 100mph exhaust gas is gitting blowin right away on some set ups.

Re: Waste Gate Dump Tube placement *Good info* (Este_Cara)
but i guess if u have a filter on the turbo inlet thats routed towards like the fender area or somewhere out of the wastegate area, it wont make too much of a difference where the waste gate dumps since no exhaust air can get sucked in my the turbo..... but its probably jus teasier to fab up a dump tube that routes under the oil pan

well i think that its posts like this that help educate us. i had no idea that it would really make that much of a difference. i mean the scientific concept is kind of obvious but i didnt know the effects in a real world application.
my NOOBness is decreasing by the day

That's a dumb 1960's myth and absolutely NOT true. Hot Rod tested this about 4 years ago, if I get unlazy i'll go dig through my stack of old rags and scan the article.
