Default wanting to boost my gsr

sorry if i am asking dumb questions but i want some opinions. i am wanting to boost my daily driven primary source of transportation, 99 gsr with factory internals and 75k miles. i am not wanting or trying to build a beast just something around 200-220 HP on 6-7 psi. what setup sould i go with? i have been looking at the Greddy kit that comes with 18g, injectors, fuel pump, FMI and piping, e-manage, etc.. i am sure that you all are familliar with the kit. any better ideas and my main concern is keeping it dependable and reliable. thanks alot

search through the archives, there's lots of info to be found

for what your looking for i'd say to piece a custom kit together. It might endup being cheaper than a greddy kit....and it'll still leave room to upgrade down the road. Sample kit off the top of my head that's not too expensive : projectdc2 custom mani and downpipe, t3/t4b or e, hondata setup, 440-550 injectors, tial 35/38mm WG, pwr or precision ic and make your own piping, flamenco-t oil lines.....etc.

i had similar goals to you, i have a 130xxx miles on my 92 gsr and wanted some boost...i started researching (like you should) for about 6 months heavily and then started to make some purchases... Luckily after selling all my all motor parts (thank you skunk2 and jun for holding your value!) I only spent about $400 on parts to finish the turbo setup, so it was well worth it to me b/c my next n/a mod would have been pistons...but here is basically what i did.

im sure everyone hear will vote for you to piece your own kit together, you will get a better end result for the same or even less than the price of a so called kit.

i made a list of stuff i needed to build my car and accomplish reasonable goals, and here is what i ended up with...

stuff I need for Turbo:

X Manifold: Log style Stainless Steel LoveFab $250
X Bov: 1g dsm - $50
X turbo: $120 t3 60 trim 48 a/r
X intercooler: pwr style 20x8x3 $290
X dsm injectors: $50
X charge pipes: $80 two 2.5" two 2.25"
X downpipe: left over 2.5"
X oil lines: $140 from flamenco T
X wastegate: 38mm Tial $210
X fuel pump: $90
X turbo timer: $65 greddy online
X clamps: $30
X 3" muffler: $80 shipped ebay
X 3" Exhaust $210 kteller.com
X flanges: $60 (bov, exhaust, 5bolt flanges and gaskets)
X Resisotor Box: $20
X Shorty Radiator $120
X New Starter $130
X Flex Pipe $30

granted, there were things in that mix that i didn't necessarily need, for example the radiator, or starter, or flex pipe, or 3" exhaust...but after selling my old radiator / exhaust it made it wortwhile.

i am currently running 8psi on uberteg technology and i am loving it. tuning is done through an innovate wideband, it is very smooth and drives like a normal car and is great for street, yet doesn't run out up top even to 8500 (itr valvetrain)

if you have any questions feel free to pm me and ill try to answer them b/c i was in the same boat you were... hope thats helped man.

Look through the FI classifieds for a used turbo kit. There are a lot of great values in there.

since my main concern is safety for my car and keeping it dependable, do you all think it would be a better idea to go with a supercharger?

not necessarily, i think your best bet w/ your car being dependable once boosted is your engine management and maintenance.....
