To VTEC or Not to VTEC? That is the question at hand
Fellas need your help I don't know whether to get the VTEC engine or non-vtec engine for the use of a turbocharged vehicle. I hear of a lot of people turning the VTEC off when they go turbo? So why all the VTEC craze? From my understanding the VTEC motors favor a style of quicker inhaling and exhaling, which is more favorable for all motor cars who need to shift @ 9 and 10g. Now for turbocharged vehicles you don't need to rev that high. I say 8g at the most. What good can the VTEC mechanism do for a turbocharged vehicle is probably a better question? Most turbo cars need longer gears which are not a characteristic of many of the VTEC motors most of them have a 4.4FDR. If I do go turbo and use a VTEC motor it will be the H22 92-96 block preferably. It has some of the longes gears even longer than an LS motor both have 4.2FDR but the H22 is somewhat lower. So please help me out!!
VTEC heads and intake manifolds flow more than their non- VTEC counterparts. Use adjustable cam gears to dial out the overlap and you'll have a killer setup. But for us boosted SOHC VTEC guys, it's a little more difficult...

A GSR motor will beat an LS motor with the same mods and tuning.
I prefer to stick with the LS because it's cheaper.
