Default Vibrant Performance Boost Brace

Anyone using something like this to help prevent their intercooler piping from blowing off?

I'd probably fabricate my own though...$49.95 is not a fair price.

How the hell does it work? How about just using good quality couplers and clamps?

check out drag cars. they use springs or straps and 2 bolts on their pipes

for the amount of engineering and machining done. 49.95 is a fair price

Nevermind, I just read about it, you weld tabs to the piping and you attach this to the tabs. But again, how about good quality couplers and clamps?

This is like for the 30psi an up crowd. Most of us do not need this with good T-bolt clamps.

it works by each side is welded to your piping, the horizontal brace is tightened down so that your piping cannot "pop-off"

on tyler hara's car, he only has worm screw clamps and standard silicon couplers, up to 40psi, and we've never blown off a coupler.

blown up one, yes, nice tear in the silicon, but the clamps were still holding like a champ

blown off one? no

its all in how the fabrication is done, and how well the bead rolls are done.

up to 30psi here and still use regular worm clamps with no bead rolls. I've popped them off before, but it's really really rare. Last time happened about 6-7 months ago. i don't recommend what I do, but I dont' recommend that either, unless you want bling.

Beads + T-bolt clamps, got 'em from Full-Race. Just wanted an bit of extra insurance, but if the big-boost congregation don't have issues with the silicone slipping off their pipes, then I doubt I will.

And $49.95 is ridiculous. I doubt any "engineering" went into that brace. If they marketed/advertised more vehemently in the media, then there's ample justification for the price. I don't need the product name etched into the brace..."Vibrant" isn't going to do anything used purely for function.
