Default VHT flameproof coatings?

Has anyone tried this out? I'm talking about the stuff that comes in a spray paint can, I want to put it on the exhaust side of my turbo.

the stuff works well as long as the surface is prepped well. clean of oil and rust. it holds up to heat pretty good.

I've used it on a turbo manifold and it held up pretty good.

I've been looking for something to do my manifold with, but I've always been a skeptic of spray on auto zone ish. Post pics if you've got them, and how long it's held up.

Oh yeah, Joseph Davis taught me everything I know.

works good from keeping it from rusting so fast.......not so much for keeping the heat down.

It holds up, but it doesn't do much other than look pretty.

It is a good substitute for the silicone sealer you get with exhaust wrap kits though.

Do a search for exhaust coatings and rmcdaniels.

Im always curious. I use them on exhaust I finished up, around the welds, etc. (mild steel) They seem to hold up fine, Im curious on how well it holds up on hotter surfaces?

I have used it on my manifold and turbo a couple setups ago...and it held up great i was really surprized, i also use it to paint my heat wrap, the high heat spray for the wrap doesn't hold up for ****... but the VHT looks good!!

3+ months of hard hot driving. cured it on the car via VHT instruction.

Woah that looks good! Im considering doing what roger did on his manifold with the DIY, but i dont have access to my sandblaster anymore- does this flameproof coating have any thermal properties, or is it purely cosmetic?
thanks!

it seems to have some, before coated it took a long time to cool down, the manifold is cooled to touch after 10 minutes.
plus I used to burn through the dei heat sheild under the before the coating, but now it does not burn anymore.
one thing about it, I wish I could get a jet hot coat, but for now this is good.

I'm dissapointed in you Leroy. Where's the black? Bright colors make me cringe.

I am slowly getting there, I am getting tired of all the bright stuff myself, redoing my setup soon, RLD fab manifold keeps cracking and he won't fix it because I got it rewelded by somone else the first time it did, for $1250 you would expect more. so whenever I get a new manifold, I will stealth everything.

Hit up Craig at Tunertoys, he sells what you have for around half and the quality is top notch. Goforth has bought 2-3 and I was impressed, reminds me of the old FR hand-welds or the current run of Peakboost units.

If you're looking, then check out Caswell Plating's coatings. The 12oz. will be able to do your manifold like 6 times or so. Then just buy a disposable air brush gun at Harbor Freight for like $20. I've been using this coating and it's wonderful.....as in after driving on the highway for an hour I can immediately get out and hold my finger 1/8-1/4" away from the manifold and get bored before my finger is too hot.

Since I got the new manifold, this has lasted me since about August/September-ish '07. This summer it could probably stand to come off and be re-coated. But for about $12.50 per coating you won't find anything as good for that cheap.

See above again For awhile it will have a slight gloss appearance to it, but it eventually will change to more of a flat black. I haven't tried their CermaBlue coating though....just the black stain coating. No baking required is very convenient.
