ok, i'm trying very hard to get a d16z6 turbo setup in my cx. the problem is, is that i'm only finding complete d16's with a lot of miles on them. that being said, do you think it is alright to run low boost (say 5-8psi) on an engine with over 100k miles. now i know that not all high mileage engines are the same, depending on how the owners took care of them, but i'm just wondering in general. also, if there are any good places to find complete d16s, let me know. thanks.
I have had my beat up d16z6 DX hatch boosted since 130,000 on the motor. I now have about 141,000. first was 8-9psi on a t25 now I run 8.5-10 on a 50trim t3 (which is WAY faster).
I did a compression test on it last week and was perfect 180-185 on all 4. so at least the top ring is good
. I run the hack 'tuned' off narrowband o2 voltage, about .93 under boost. It's a gay way to tune/manage fuel but my car has run and runs very well on it.
I'm in the process of building a block for boost. just rod and pistons is under 800 bucks and makes a pretty strong motor. All you need is a solid head, which many of the high milage ones are anyway. Ide say buy an old one, build the bottom end a little, reassemble with new pumps and t-belt and make 200-300 hp reliably. cheap and fast
can't beat the budget boosted D! GL

5-8 pounds will be fine on a z6 with over 100k. compression test it, if you are concerned. i wouldnt boost it if the compression was less than 170 or so. this summer im going to boost my stock block z6 that will probably have 150,xxx miles on it. its current compression is exactly 210 across all 4, on 7 cranks of the motor. im gonna run probably 7 or so pounds(around 180whp), and then build for boost over this coming winter
boost it and dont worry about the miles if the engine is in good shape you;ll be fine I ran my del sol with 18X.XXX at 8psi. not a problem.

another route you may want to consider is purchasing a jdm d15b vtec motor, they are reasonably cheap and perform very well, mine only had 26k miles on it when i bought it.
