Valve spring compressor bench ( Interest )
THIS IS NOT A FOR SALE POST...
A friend and I are building these things for purpose of valve spring removal.
If interested post here, and I will make a thread in the best buys forum for it.
If the thread needs to go somewhere different tell me and I will post it there. I just feel the interest would be higher here.
The over arm glides along the double rails on delrin slides. The air cylinder has a 2.5" piston and can produce 500 pounds of force from shop air. The thing is like a big LEGO or Constructs set-up, it just snaps together!
Different size cups can be made to fit up in the air cylinder shaft, depending on the application.
The air cylinder pivots up out of the way to ease the removal of the head or any general working that needs to be done.
The aluminum platform the head sits on is inserted into the rails of the metal like a picture frame, helping to support the force exerted upon it. The alum platform is covered by a rubber matt, to keep from scratching the head surface.
By using an air regulator instead of a switch, ... the movements of the cylinder are slowed down, to help accuracy of alignment of the retainer and spring and to reduce the risk of "pinching" your self with a fast moving cylinder ram. The air feed is restricted to help slow it also.

You can go to local races and fix people heads at the track.!for all you PRO racers if your in the east coast and head goes kaboom call PWRVTEC 24/7 ....
For the right price, yes I would be interested.
But I have the killer kit that allows you to change valve springs/retainers without removing the head

Very cool
For the right price, i'd definitely be interested.
I just use the old clamp screw down style valve spring compressor. Not as fancy as this but it works.

Yeah I guess it would if the platform could be sat level... But I doubt it....lol
Nice!
So that'll work with the head still in the car right?

Just out of couriosity, what price would you guys that are interested be willing to pay real world.
Looks neat but this is just for valve springs removal? Looks kindda hard to to be putting valve springs in with that.
edit- I would try it if it's around the same price as the snap on set.

Dude, is that overkill or what! Really, really cool looking. Kinda looks like it should be in the new Terminator 3 movie.
This one works great though, also can be used with the head still on the car. $116 from Snapon.

IMO i dont see anyone using this save dedicated Head shops. a little bulky for track use even race teams, as space is always a premium.
Mabe set up shop at Pro Level Drags and people that kaboom can run over to you
Looks awesome tho.

Looks really nice and all, but not needed.
This is what we use too.
We can get valve spring removed and installed on a DOHC head in under 20mins and four hands with this tool.
And it works even better on VW's!!!! More money!
