V Band question..help please!!

V Band question..help please!!
wasnt sure where to post this have it in welding forum too,,,,but...i just bought a turbo from a well know shop that rebuilt it...when i started putting my car together i noticed the v band clap looked weird...it looks like theres somthnig missing i called turbonetics and they said i needed the weld falange....sorry my camera is broke dont have any pics..but i just would like some pics..have any of you had to weld right onto your turbo housing...is that normal..thanks in advance for your help

it's been done. i've done it. i have a gt35r with the 4 bolt backhousing and i was running into space constraints so i had a machine shop cut off the 4 bolt flange on the backhousing itself and had a buddy TIG weld a 3 inch v-band flange on there so i no longer have to worry about trying to get bolts in in tight spaces. but you also have to pay attention to what type of material the turbine housing is actually made of. if it's made from cast iron...you're prolly just better off gettin a new backhousing with the necessary output flange on it from the get go to help simplify things. V-band owns.
