Default V-Band?

My last topic dealed with my downpipe to tubo backing out the bolts. Everyone was saying use v-bands. I searched and I'm still not sure what it is really. Show me pics or something to help me out.

This was welded on locally and I took every precaution to "do it right," and it definitely paid off big time. I was fighting that annoying headache everytime I would drive the car with bolts backing out. This v-band was welded on over 2 years ago, and I haven't once had to deal with bolt in that time....stress-free is the way to be. Weld the v-band to the housing and you'll thank yourself. It takes a little effort, but the benefit is more than anything I can explain.

Think of it as a hose clamp, but instead of a flat piece, it is an inverted "V" that goes over two raised lips, one on each pipe.

I have read that v-bands can be a headache as well, eventually starting to leak. It doesn't sound to be as common as bolts backing out though.

Haven't heard of that, but anything is possible I guess. Mine haven't leaked in over 2 years of daily driving and A LOT of removals haha.
