using a switch on J1 on a chipped ECU?
long story short, im going to be running uberdata soon, and my P28 is socketed for management... so, while tunning, im going to want to be able to run back and forth from uberdata back to stock.
now, when you jump J1, the external rom is active.. and if you break it, returns it back to stock.. so why not put a switch?
has anyone ever done this?

yes you are correct, and ive seen a switch soldered in b4 but who needs the stock bin

Yeah i've seen a pic with someone installing a switch as well. Go ahead and do it, just make sure it's hard to accidently switch it. Otherwise I don't see how hard it is to burn a chip with the stock ROM.

well.. your right.. but whats a stock BIN? im using 1.70 and the closest i can get, it going from a stock GSR, and importing the P28.. and going like that..
the thing is, my car is a VX.. and im coverting the ECU up to P28 along with the O2.. a few weeks ago, it wasn't at all on the P28, so ide like ot know for a fact the ECU is stock.. that way i can get it right on the P28.. then chip from there.
do you have a stock P28 bin?

Re: (T-RO)
well, its a succsess...
i went to radio shack, and looked at the switches, and i saw your little PC board one, but i was really feeling the fact of having the switch on the case, so i made it happen.
i put the switch up and to the right, cuz thats were the most space was, and i left enough wire to take the plate off and kick it to the side, and the wire i used wasn't like braided, it was solid... feels really solid.
what do you guys think?

Re: (SOHC_MShue)
That looks really nice
What are you going to do about the injector problem as stated before?
You don't want to turn that thing off once you install the new injectors...

to me, that was a pain in the ***... and it honestly took me about 10 mins to put in this switch, cut me a quick hole, and then 4 soilder points.. peice of cake.

this is gunna be a little bit of a pain in the ***.. but, since im going to run those 450's that need a resistor box, im going to go ahead and use some OBD0 B16 injectors, and swap them back and forth.. 240's/450's.. changing injetors is shitty.. but if i can get this bitch to run right, i have no other choice.

Re: (iLLestjr)
Pretty weak in my opinion. It's a ******* "blow your **** up switch" that dangles off of the side of the ECU. It's too easy to accidentally open the switch. Putting one inside of the case makes far more sense to me. Quality work though

Re: (wantboost)
its at the very top, and if the ECU is mounted.. its hardley easy to switch... and the actual rocker inside the switch is pretty damn stiff... i dont' think i'll ever have a problem.

Re: (Built B16A)
well.. my switch fell short. after taking the top cover off a few times, it finally broke the connection, so i re-enginered the idea.
as seen in some other ECU's, i decided to use the side which is stationary.
this way the switch is untouched.
trial and error.. but this should be the ticket.
