Used turbos
I have the opportunity to buy a used turbo from someone for a good price. What should i look for as far as damage or overuse??? Is there any way to tell if the turbo is in poor shape or not going to last me very long? Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Re: Used turbos (zxc4)
Check the compressor wheel... if it looks like it was attacked by killer chipmunks... ixnay. Also... ask whether it was water cooled or not? Was a turbo timer used if not?
Was it a street car or primarily a race car?
Good luck.

It is a garrett turbo that was used on an acura ls motor. the motor blew and he told me the kit would fit on my b16. He said it has a little wall bite?? whats that mean? anyways it had a turbo timer and apparently was only on the motor for a few thousand miles. the whole kit is going for about $1000 let me know what ya think thanks ?? ??

check for shaftplay, that means, that when you look at the compressor side, usually shiny side of teh turbo or the brighter side, look at the compressor wheel, grab the ending tip with two fingers and try to move it, side to side and in and out. If it moves just a tiny bit, its should be fine, if it moves ALOT, then fawk it, it will need a rebuild.
