Default Unplugged my ECU, and car still runs?

What's up guys. I was at an Asian lunar moon festival with some cousins and friends tonight, and I guess it would be safe to also call it the GOVG (Gathering of Viet Gangstas) To make the story short, I unplugged my ecu as a safety measure incase anybody tried to steal my car (Because it has happened to other people before). What I found really wierd was that I was still able to start my car after the ECU being completely unplugged. I am totally confused on how this is possible. Anyone have any ideas?

Here's a rundown of what I have that I think could be related:

P75 ECU
Hondata s200b
Greddy Turbo Timer

Thanks in advance,
Khoi

i think it is possible to switch on the starter motor... but i don't think the car can start and idle or even run... because injectors are not opened and igniton is not controlled... without this... i think its impossible for an engine to run without the starter motor

Yeah.kinda wierd...I let it idle for about 2 seconds. The fuelpump even primed itself with the ECU unplugged.

I believe it. Something weird happend to me not too long ago as well, but nobody believes me. I had a bet with my friend that if I put a bunch of food in my *** that it would come out my mouth. So about 3 weeks ago I put a bunch of pizza up my *** and sure enough I **** it out my mouth. It was the weirdest thing.

that is totally normal. With the ecu unplugged the car will run in limp mode and have a high *** idle and drive like ****.

One time when I was tuning I threw in a chip backwards which is about as good as having no chip at all and my car started and idled like ****. Either way when you turn the key your starter is going to get power and it's still just an engine, you might not be getting perfect fuel and spark but it's still there.

I doubt it would run very long and lack of a working ECU getting signal from a TPS would make it pretty much non-drivable.

I think if you plug out the ecu the car would not start! think about it,The ecu is the brain of the car without that nothing would work. just like your home computer. without the CPU nothig works.

are you sure youd dint unplug your hondata box ?

without the ecu the injectors woudlnt prime

you put a chip in backwards it wont read the chip but itl still have a program and the ecuw ill still prime the pump and fire the injectosr . jsut in a real shitty manner.

maybe you still had gas in the combusion chamber and it ignited that.

by unplugging the hondata blue box. the ecu still reads the program. however its limited to 3000 RPM rev limit.

Simple explanation. An engine only needs 3 things to work: Fuel, spark, and compression.

Honda engines, still utilizing a coil and mechanical distributor, will still work with the ECU unplugged. The ECU only controls retard. So spark will be there.

The injectors WILL NOT work without the ECU. However, contrary to popular belief, the injectors do not spray directly into the valve, and therefore there is always some fuel in the intake manifold. You said the engine only ran for a second, so this is possible. Probably ran like ****, though. It is also possible that the injectors leak slightly.

The starter motor and fuel pump are operated external to the ECU in Hondas. So no mystery there.

My car, on the other hand, would be completely dead without the ECU. Everything plugs into it. (Kia Rio)
