Default uberdata/ ecu chipping?????

The last 2 days i have been reading about uberdata and have decided to go down that road. So i take look-see at my ecu and...... looks to me like there is a chip already in there, so im thinking woo-hoo no soldering! well i want to make sure it is the correct chip and everything i need to uberdata is actualy there.

I checked out the site and it shows you how to do a p28. and i noticed some differences between theirs and mine. however mine is a pr4 used in a 92 cx with a b18b motor?

so is my ecu already to go using uberdata? or do i need to add things still?

from what i see on the p28 write up:
-my yellow box is good
-my blue box looks different
-inside the rex box i am missing a piece

Looks like you're ready to go. Some of the items are not required (used for noise filtering if I remember right). Burn a chip and off you go...

Nice to see people considering uberdata as a real alternative to expensive fuel management.

Viren can you use a regular soldering Iron to socket ECU's or do you need some special Soldering station or something?

its good to have a good desoldering/soldering station not really complicated but it does help when you ahve good equipment. The chips and stuff can be found at many places. cost of supplies is under 15.00 bucks with zif

I bought my Hakko 926 Soldering station [with brand new iron] from Ebay for $40! That thing rocks my socks off. Now if I could only find a deal on the Hakko De-Soldering gun...

Correct, just add a piece of wire to J1 to enable the External chip.
C51/52 are optional. 0.1uF cap.

How are they optional? I have seen that some sights don't do it and some do.

Hondata used to come with them. Now they don't. It's just for noise filtering [I think]. If it makes you sleep better at night, put them in.

Electronic noise, not audible noise, haha. But yeah, you should be fine leaving them out.

Haha, noise filtering doesn't mean "auditible" noise!

they are good to have, but not nessessairy - the ECU will function properly with or without them in place - hence why they are optional.

How could it be any more simple? Such is the nature of the beast, you can only simplify things so much before they are what they are.

If you're not a DIY sort of person, willing to do research and make mistakes here and there... uberdata isn't for you. Just as in learning anything, there are always mistakes to be made.

überdata is not that confusing... introduction of any technical material can be hard to comprehend fully at first.

read the faq's and check out the forum... start with what you can understand and go from there. alot of the information can be overwhelming so dont push yourself if your not getting it in 10 minutes, take a break and return to your study when mello'd.

Yeah, it really isn't hard. Also, if you poke around the uberdata forum you can probably find a basemap to suit your needs.

I just got all my chipping supplies in the mail today! A buddy bought a burner so I should be running uberdata by monday. I don't expect it will be very tough to figure out any problems that a quick H-t search or some hard thinking can't fix.
Do the ZIF sockets with the little silver lever with the ball on the end fit? they are pretty bulky.

I wouldn't consider them optional. They are called decoupling capacitors, and they filter the power supply to the gate and EPROM chips. They are also .01uf not the .1uf as stated before.
