do you have a link to the cable you are talking about? I used the ebay cable and it only has 3 wires in it, yet it works perfectly with my ecu.

Yes, you want the Type 1, 5V superdroids cable, but dont get the 4", get the 72" one. Believe me, you'll want the longer cable. With only 4" of cable your laptop is going to be sitting in your passenger footwell right on top of the ECU. And just like you said, that little header gets soldered into your ECU on CN2 and the Superdroids cable plugs right into it.
