uberdata-------cel-------can't pull code--------revlimit at ~3500
setup
b16a2
p30 erm baseline
p28 ecu
cel is on, but I can't pull it and the rev-limit is at 3.5K. Didn't I just read about something like this?
Is the p30 bin looking for knock sensor circuitry on the p28 and throwing a code? The cel light doesn't flash, just stays on when I jump those 2 wires.
I have setup the stock gsr map and pulled 10% fuel from it and I'm about to try it out.
If anyone know what the problem is feel free to post
BTW, known good harness and ecu.

If the ecu has any problem reading the chip it goes into an emegercy safemode type operation where it has a revlimiter about 3k and dumps a ton of fuel. This could be what you are seeing, try removing the chip(which should force this type of operation) and see if it runs the same. If it does then its not even reading the chip. It could be a problem from when the ecu was soldered such as bad solder joint or burnt trace, bad or improperly inserted eprom, or something wrong the bin file you are using. If you cant figure it out you can cut the jumper at j1 and it should restore the ecu to stock condition, if its still messed up you ecu is really damaged. Good luck!

This is exactly what I was thinking... The ECU has a secondary ROM inside that has backup data that switches on in the event the main chip fails for some reason. The emergency backup is just that however, an emergency backup, just enough to get the car around far enough to replace the ECU.

Yeah, its in "safe mode" I had the same problem 1st time around. I havent had a chance yet to troubleshoot it. Thats a good suggestion about pulling the chip and running the car to see if its a bad burn, I had not thoughr of that.
You can also check your connections with a multimiter. Put it at 1000ohm (I had to use 2000 setting, all mine had). If you touch both leads of the multimiter together it will read 0 cause it shorts itself out. So, touch pins 1&2, you should get a number other than 0. If you get 0 then those spots are shorting themselves out. Continue with 3&4 etc...

the ecu is fine - i tried another bin earlier on the same chip. The data was verified after it was written. I already burned the gsr bin and took out 10% fuel - I am almost finished setting up my wideband to feed the ecu a narrow band signal and then I'll try the gsr bin. If all is good I'll try to reburn the b16 one anyway and see if anything changes. But I am 100% sure its not any faulty connections or ecu prob. I think its all in the bin.
i went over this in the big thread. if its the first time you have put a chip in and this is happening, go over your connections. if its a new chip, its either the chip itself, or your burning. If you burned it with prog studio and got no errors then try it again... if you have it so it doesnt write in 0's in prog studio that will cause this.

okay, well the ecu I bought socketed already and I tested it and it worked. I copied the program that it came with and burned it onto one of my new chips - the same one that I have been using for uberdata - and it worked fine.
Then I burned the p30 baseline and what is written above happened.
I thought it might be some issue with the bin so I burned the stock gsr map, hit apply for the 1 degree timing retard, changed the fuel efficiany to 120, hit apply - then I selected the entire map in high and low and changed the multiplication to 90 to take away 10% since I have a b16. It threw a code 13. Barometric pressure.
I tried it again taking only 5 % fuel away because the wideband showed it idling leaner than normal. Still threw a code. I didn't try to grab it because I am tired from running wires and being under the car all day - tomorrow = more trouble shooting.
It doesn't throw any code with my stock ecu in - at first I thought it was because the wideband wasn't sending narrow band output to the ecu - but the stock ecu throws no code so thats not the case.
I am going to reburn the program that my ecu came with to see if that throws a code tomorrow.
So please throw some more help my way - and thanks for all the help so far.
BTW, just to clear things up, I should take 10% of fuel away for a b16 from the stock gsr map correct?
And I don't have a turbo on their yet but that shouldn't matter just FYI.

Why not alter the program that came with the ecu to suit your needs. If that impossible. I think it is a case where you are using a JDM spec ROM on a USDM ecu or vice-versa. Make sure both ecu and rom are of the same market.
USDM ecus and JDM ecus roms are slightly different. Let me know.

okay, I finally had time to try and troubleshoot it. Here is what happened:
1. Burned the rpt program the ecu came with = works fine, idle was funny a bit but it stabilized as engine warmed up - no cel and no limiter.
2. Re-burned uberdata BINs (I tried stockGSR, stockLS, P30baseline, P28baseline - all gave very similar results (3500 rev limit cel - the cel was 1 slow and 3 quick (I pulled from the stockGSR map) - I don't know what it is in obd1 but my helms says barometric pressure, but thats for obd2 - I don't know if they are the same - I don't know what barometric pressure code means anyway
3. Pulled chip - started car with no chip = rev limit at 4500, and really high idle.
4. I tried burning with that check box unchecked = no difference
So all of this leads me to believe that for some reason none of the uberdata BINs work in my ecu (p28). I don't know if its looking for something I don't have or what - like knock sensor.
Has anyone used uberdata with a p28? - I always thought it would work.
What should I do? Buy a new ecu? Which one?

you do NOT have a USDM ECU.
it sounds like your ecu does not have a baro sensor. it most likely does not have the injector test circuitry either. its probably euro ecu or jdm. please take a pic of it.
i believe mine is a euro ecu since it has thru-hole parts and does not have baro or injector test circuit. JDM would have surface mount parts and missing the 2 circuits.
note the blank space to the right of the atmel chip. labeled HIC3. thats where the baro sensor goes.
what does the sticker say on your ecu? P28-??? P30-???

i have almost the same question and some people say this to me:
00006000H: 00 FF 00 00 00 FF FF 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 FF 00
the 6002H location is 00 instead of FF shows that the knock sensor has been disabled.
so i was asking my self could i use the USDM or JDM ecu bins in my European ECU.
And i took a look at all the bins that where atatched with uberdata.
And i saw that all of the ecu bin's had the knock sensor disabled.
so i was asking my self can of cant i use these ( and is the info they gave me correct ) . maybe you chould ask the same thing if you are using a JDM or EDM ECU ( do you use it ?? )
Greetz Erwin.

Here is a few more, I think they are clearer. It seems to have the piece you are lacking EDIT: i WAS LOOKING IN THE WRONG SPOT SORRY. What do you think? Not usdm? That would be the only reason I could think of for it not to work at this point.
FYI, the car that I put this ecu in is a 99 civic si if that makes any difference.

read this. its about the p28 g50 ecu
http://pgmfi.org/phorum/read.p..._4081
they say :
disable: injector test circuitry, Knock sensor, and PA sensor
and you can try and use a p08 programm and stick in the map what you want.. but you cant use the p08 series in uberdata so

no problem at first i thought that it was just the knock sensor. but i seem to see more and more... ill read some moreabout it tomorrow. and ill let you know the adresses of al the sensors and how to disable them... ( if i can find it ) but its late at my place and i need to get some sleep now ( its 00:30 now )
you and i got almost the exact same ECU - i have a P28-G52 which is auto, but identical to the manual aside from a couple resistors.
i believe these are EDM (euro ecus). they are also found in non-japan asian countries like singapore etc.
