Default Uberdata on 98 EX (built motor)

Friend has a 98 ex (d16y8) and a built motor. He has been using the AFC hack to get by with untill a better solution could be had. I have talked him into using uberdata and need some info.

The car is OBDII and I understand you have to use a chipped OBDI board.

Would that be a P28 thats socketed?
Is there anything that will be a problem going from the stock ECU (OBDII) to a socketed OBDI? Anything that may be a problem or concern?

I know we will need a rom burner and thats ok. I will find the suggested one on the uberdata forums. I just am a bit in the dark about swapping out the ECU and what will/wont work once its been done.

You just need an OBD-IIA>>OBD-I adapter harness.

Don't let your friend touch his ECU.

Either read the Uberdata website or take the car to a professional tuner.

No sense risking a freshly built motor.

P.S. what's the motor setup, rods/pistons, headwork, etc...

honestly I think this is something we can accomplish. I have just started reading into the uberdata forums. Why would you advise not to touch the ECU? I mean its running an AFCII hack now, an uberdata basemap to get it to a dyno or street tune with a wideband should be better right?

ALL THE answers to your questions are already on line. try searching or reading the uberdata web site. you can find the answers to these questions but u feel you can accomplish the tuning part of your car. just about anything is better than the hack method on a turbo car

So I ordred the OBDIIa>OBDI adapater harness and working on getting the chipped ECU from MTBER.

Also I contacted a tuner off the pgmfi.org boards about tuning in Denver. So hopefully you will see some pics and 1/4mi times of another turboed Civic.

quick question... you have a built motor, why only 450cc injectors? seems a bit small for a built motor.

Its kind of a learning process, with the VAFC 450cc was as big as you could go and still be able to idle. Even with the 450s its too much to idle with, way rich even with -50. These are also saturated injectors and don't require the resistor.
