Default Typical Build costs....

I'm looking at getting my stock GSR built...pistons, rods, new bearings and ARP studs. What do you think an average shop would cost to rebuild it? I'm looking only at assembly fees and getting it running in my car again. I'm going to buy all of the parts ahead of time and have the shop install all of it. I'm just trying to get an idea. Thanks!

Usually just to assemble a bottom end a shop will charge in between 350-600.
You also need to filter in machine work(bore and hone)~$100-150, balancing ~$200-350 and cleaning~$60-80.

I budgeted my block build up at $2000, and almost hit that before machine work prices with basic performance shortblock parts for my b16.

good luck, i doubt you really know how to build an engine PROPERLY if you didn't know it costs that much for a shop to do it

i've built 3 engines so far....i'm not the best builder obviously, but i can do it and if i take my time and use a Chiltons manual i am confident that i can do it. I just built my first turbo kit and its running fine....what's to say that i can't do another project....

The problem is going to be if you jack it up. You have very few options in Fargo if something doesn't go right. There are very few shops in Fargo that can build a B series motor CORRECTLY..

I would just ship it out to someone like Earl and have the best of the best do it.
